I wonder if dual cpu support will double the power or just by small percentage.

I'd be willing to bet that dual core performance may add between a 50%-90% performance improvement. Actually I am more interested in multiple core performance... when the mac towers come out with 8 CPUs I'm hoping for a rather linear scaling of performance. I won't expect 8x more power, but somewhere around 4x-7x would be quite nice.

It will depend where the bottleneck is in your system - if you are running loads of tracks and can't stream clips any faster off the hard drive then you will not get any more ttracks, but you will be able to add effects and routing.

Of course with dual processors and altivec opptimisation this all becomes academic as a black hole will open up, shift into reverse and provide unlimited playback and talent.

For me, the bottleneck is always CPU because of VST's. I would rather not "print" anything to audio that I don't have to so I can tweakit. Lots of people just use audio with Live and rarely do VSTi's, but running multiple Reaktor instances with Multicore would be sweet indeed.

I'm the same way. actually alot of my songs go unfinished because I hate bouncing stuff down to loops I want to keep all the plugs in there but the song eventually maxes out and I can't add anything else.

totally lame. I should get used to bouncing stuff. cause I'm sure as hell not buying a new computer.

Bouncing is your friend! You should try to commit to a part, saying, this element is now finished, all I have to do is set the volume in the final mix. I find this helps me *immensely* with getting stuff finished. I'm not replacing my kick drum six times an hour because my drums are one stereo track with few or no live effects on them after I get the arrangement down.

Bouncing is your friend, until it totally kills your creative moment while you are stuck rendering audio and midi... Its kind of a double sided sword for me personally...

I have a feeling that Live 6 is going to be something truly, and unimaginably incredible. Thiese are my reasons why:

I have no time to sleep as it is.

That and the Abes have been sooooooooo quiet, yet Henke is is cruising the forums...

Just get's my heart going... these dangerously silent, still waters...

I really think something incredible mught be in store for us. I'm still finding new things to with beat repeat... god only knows what they are sitting on!!!
