Argh! I want to go through a section that goes 5/4, 6/4 then 4/4 and I can't do it!
We're not all 4-to-the-floor DJs y'know...

I was delighted to see that Reason 4 was finally going to include this rather essential composition feature.
Anyway, bumping this because I've been having a look at what Live can do, and I'm impressed, but my heart sank when I realised I couldn't actually use it (easily) with some of my compositions! For years I've had to drive Reason from another sequencer, but this isn't going to work very well with Live, as part of the point is being able to throw arrangements together.
I can see that because of the way live works, it might be a terrible pain to implement and end up low on the list of priority additions. Perhaps it's a wise decision to hold off until a sensible solution can be found, but it would appear that as this is a much requested feature, there has been plenty of time to think about it.

Please add this feature. A simple automation envelope that controls the time signature would suffice. It could be in the same area as the tempo automation.
In fact, please add this feature as a free update. I can't believe it doesn't exist already. For shame!

bump.
i was commissioned to do a project for a group that were pizza-math-rock freaks. 8 of the 11 songs were in odd times, and often times switched between time signatures. to add to that, often times there were compounded time signatures (goofy stuff like 23/8).
i was brought in to play drums and create loops that they could improv (noodle infinitly, etc). needless to say the only way to accomplish this was to setup the songs in 1/8 time signature. it was very hard to switch sections via foot pedal, handsonic, or spd-s pad... i had to time it just right.
needless to say, live performance was less than optimal and i almost would have been better off manually starting and stoping a sequencer and trying to line it up to a non-sync'd clique.

Is it? So, has any of the Beta testers had fun with it already?
would be great if some light could be shed on this aspect!
Thanks

wooohoooo! I'm glad this has somewhat been worked on. But you can't have different signatures for different tracks, hehe

Yeah , the announcement... Thanks Hoffman2k,
but i was hoping for some user feed-back on this.. anyone of the testers dabbling with signature changes, odd sigs. etc. off of the 4OTF, 4 to the bar, 4 ... 4 ....4X4 grids?

yes, but it's pretty straight forward. not a lot to tell.
I use them mainly in the arrangement, you have new markers that go in the same zone as the existing arrangement location markers, you create one and tell it what sig to go to .. that's about it. Need another sig change, add another marker.
you can of course use scenes to trigger sig changes, but I don't really use scenes much, I can't see the point of them for my way of working as they cant contain anything complex.
