no, the country I live in is influenced by crazy christian fundamentalism. Islamic fundamentalism is far away and no threat to us living here. It is only made out to be a threat so that there is an excuse to go attack them because the region has oil and geopolitical significance.

God will be very angry at you for that comment. He takes a great interest in the activities of his favourite insects 'the humans' despite being able to create galaxies in the blink of an eye and being larger and more powerful than the entire universe.

We should be very glad. It is good that somehow a human can understand His desires. So lucky that Americans can interpret the plans and desires of a being 1^n larger and more powerful than themselves, and also good that the desires of such a being fit so concisely into a small book. So lucky that a book continually edited and re-interpreted by poorly educated scholars throughout 2 millenia contains the desires of a mega-being beyond imagination. So handy that the book reflects the desires of those that edited it.
So fortunate that a being which dwarves the horsehead nebula and spans 11 dimensions is looking out for the US.

I look forward to Judgement day, on which day the Lord God will Say

I just hope God loves the 49ers this weekend and gives them 2 wins in a row. Please baby jesus, please. God doesn't like the Green Bay Packers anymore, how did they anger him? Why does God love Peyton Manning more than Eli Manning? I don't know, maybe it's the whole 'first born' thing.

I think the rapture already happened and two or three unsuspecting africans running around the jungle suddenly just disappeared.

i love "no threat to us living here." yeah, aside from 9/11, WTC bombing, etc.

i also find your comment odd, b/c i'm far more bothered at how women and gays are treated in islam. southern baptists may not like gays, but they don't stone them. nor do i think they shame kill their little girls if raped, etc. should i not care b/c it doesn't directly affect me here how women, gays, infidels treated by islam in many places round globe?

by contrast, exactly how does the religion of the evangelicals affect me here anyway? i still live my same old immoral life and haven't yet been denounced to the thought police or thrown in jail.

also, i thought the opposition to the iraq war was that we do care what happens to people outside our borders. so just as i'd prefer not to have more iraqi civilians die, i'd like the atrocities in darfur to stop as well. (btw, this is not to say i wouldn't also like to see gay marriage in the US, etc.)

Do some research kranky. We need voices like him that are not threatened by that dictator bush and his henchmen. Chaves should be given a medal.
Seriously go and research what Chaves is doing for the people of Venezuela. You will find the people are far happier and have a much more positive outlook on life unlike the us population where the population are Ignorant, constantly told what to do and have their liberties stripped away, and most of all are told to fear terrorism. The us is not alone this is happening in the Uk and in Europe and the scary thing is the masses are buying it.

Chaves and his countymen are no idiots.
mercyplease, you extrapolate too much from my generalization. I was simplistically quoting other state officials who felt the need to distance themselves from his comical words. Hell, Chaves did what I would want to do If I had some U.N. time, but that's just it. He could have given a more cutting and poignant speech at the U.N. He must be careful and not clown too much or he risks loosing political weight.

No worries mate, I'm with you on this.

He's just calling it like it is. Good for him.

Now we need some people here in this country in positions of power to follow suit. Don't look to democrats for that though.
where do you live?

I hear democrats call the president "evil" everyday.
(okay "not the devil" or "satan" but - evil is close)

Just about every traffic sign around here has one of those mock campaign stickers that say something like "Bush 666" (instead of '04)
(which I gotta admit is kinda funny)

This is also an uncontested congressional district gerrymandered for a Democrat - so I suppose it's safe to say a lot of crazy shit like that.

And you'd be cool if one of our politicos went to Venezuela and spoke to a crowd of "soon to be disenfranchised" business owners and called Chavez a "socialist cochina" right?

I don't have to like or agree with Chavez to think that, it's about liberty and meaningful dialogue, if GWB will not engage Chavez on any level, then my respect for him in this little drama diminishes.

Claim all you want about Chavez being a dictator etc. there are actual dictators right now that we throw our support behind, and any amount of BS can't change that. We don't like him becaue we supported the regime that tried a military coup a few years ago. He doesn't like us because we loaned the coup militia the helicopters they flew him around in while they took power!

Anyway, it's smart to know the history of a conflict before deciding who is right or wrong based on one incident.

he called our president the devil in our own country
he is a low class thug
and dummies follow him because they don't bush
i suppose you can do or say anything as long as you don't like bush

in fact the entire libreral drivel is nothing more than bush bashing
heck if bush wasn't in power they wouldn't have anything to say at all (would almost would have been a good enough reason for me not to have voted for him)
I can't even begin to answer this, because you didn't listen to a word I said.
I don't follow anybody, period.
You really do not understand the concept of freedom if you think that people who do not support america shouldn't be able to say what they want.
I was as critical of Clinton as I am of Bush, though Clinton did not have the free reign that GWB has, therefore he wasn't as dangerous.
you can do or say anything you want to, whether or not people agree with you is another matter.
Also what do you expect on a music forum? of course it's mostly left leaning? Conservatives that make decent music are few an far between. How many kick ass christian rock bands have you heard?

More US citizens have been killed over religion by US citizens than were killed on 9/11, the previous WTC bombing and pearl harbor combined. I believe that we are less safe since 9/11, we've made more enemies and have pissed off a LOT more of the world.
dj superflat wrote:i also find your comment odd, b/c i'm far more bothered at how women and gays are treated in islam. southern baptists may not like gays, but they don't stone them.
Yes they do. How many gay people have you heard of literally being beat to death? It's not at all unheard of. Remember Matthew Shepard up in Wyoming?
dj superflat wrote:should i not care b/c it doesn't directly affect me here how women, gays, infidels treated by islam in many places round globe?
That's imperialism, I'm against that. Tend to your own garden before you citicise your neighbors. If you don't like Islam and want to fight it, whatever, just don't tell me about. It sounds like you want to fight against Islam. There are people who use the Bible to abuse their women, what about polygamists? There are some messed up cults out there.

Us white boys of privilege rarely feel the winds of inequality, we're lucky like that.

Well, remember Ammendment 2 that was almost passed in Colorado ~10 years ago? Who waved that flag? The Promise Keepers and other religious right assholes in Colorado. That was messed up, I was going to CU at the time Bill McCartney (founder of the Promise Keepers <baptist, right?> and CU head football coach) stood in front of a school podium, with a school shirt on and a school banner behind him proclaiming that 'gays are an abomination of god.' He kept his job, nothing happened to him.

Iraq was billed as payback for 9/11 and a search for WMD. Nobody can deny that oil is a factor in Iraq, billions of dollars. The humanitarian aspect of Iraq is a joke, civilians are killed by US soldiers daily, the US hires Halliburton instead of locals and we've reintroduced torture into warfare. Iraq as a humanitarian effort is like billing McDonald's as health food, or cigarettes smoking as a choice and not an addiction, or 'no child left behind' as a progressive education movement or Fox News are Fair and Balanced or any of the other lies we culturally accept.

There have been MANY humanitarian atrocities that the US have overlooked (Rwanda), there have been some we intervened on, for the most part money talks.

I could just care less about Iraq, Iran, China or Venezuela when there are homeless people in my city, crappy ass schools, malnourished children, underpaid teachers, a healthcare system in shambles, national forests being lost etc.

Of course we need other countries for the money and technology, pure isolationism won't work.

OK, you guys need to stop bothering me, I'm not getting anything done today.

I would be OK with that, we do it from up here anyway, Venezuela has been called part of the axis of evil by Bush already, people seem to forget that when it doesn't fit into their world perspective to consider that we have already called him evil. Seriously, it's not at all surprising that he is saying it back now. :?

a valid point.

I watch fox news sometimes, just to keep tabs on the enemy.

I dont own a TV, but I work someplace that has one. I loathe TV. It pisses me off and puts me in a bad mood if I watch it, 85% of the time.

Anyways, they ran this piece about the taliban. They had what seemed to be a satalite image of a funeral for a taliban member. It was an image from a drone-plane which is armed with a missile, the image had a cross-hair on it - the crowd in target. There were about five rows of mourners (20/30 to a row) - perfectly in line.
The topic was about this 'crazy' law which prevents someone from blasting enemies in cemeteries. Enter some fat, semi-bald white guy with a suit - hooting and hollering about how insane it is not to take this shot - he's petitioning congress to make it so the USA doesnt have to abide by this international law. And the hateful whore running the interview spoon-feeds 'her own' opinions into the viewer. Like how can the taliban possibly be worthy to even be considered as human beings - after all they oppose america, land of the free

The following week, another piece is running about the 'axis of evil' meeting at cuba, ONLY 72 MILES FROM THE USA - do you see where this is going ?
