So.... I'm afraid I won't be convinced that Apple realy cares one ounce about it's customers. They only care about the prospects. This is, of course, a very short-sighted business practice..... but it is the only explanation for what is happening.
i should have clarified
happy customers= better prospects
angry customers= fewer prospects
I agree.
I am of the mindset that if you take care of your existing customers, they remain loyal... and actually serve as free referrals for new customers.
But Apple does not think that way. They treat existing customers like mindless children. They take their customers for granted. They have this elitist attitude which says.... "Apple is just better.... so once someone buys an Apple, they would never switch back for any reason.... even if we screw them by not supporting older products."
Like I said..... if there were some hardware explanation for the whole iPod gapless issue, I would understand. But there isn't. There is no reason for Apple not to allow older iPod owners to benefit from this feature.... other than the fact that those people might not buy a new iPod for a longer period of time because they are happy with their old purchase.
The ironic part is that most people who have been asking for gapless, and now feel jilted.... they probably won't buy another iPod, period. I was considering buying a new iPod Nano and maybe a MacBook Pro when the Core 2 Duo comes out.... until this happened. Now I won't give a dime to that company.
If they decide to change their tune, and give us the feature we asked for.... which is no detriment to them... then maybe I'll reconsider future Apple purchases. But forget about it for now.
