Current oil on reserve - 688,300,000 barrels

Current monthly consumption - 638,038,000 barrels

http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_c ... mbbl_m.htm

Notice anything about this?

Not only that, but the reserve is REALLY intended for military use shuold there be a crisis in the flow lines. The reserve is certainly not a buffer should demand outpace supply or supply become seriously impaired.

thank you! god forbid we have to go to war on any other "fronts"....like, say Iran or N. Korea!!!!!

don't forget the fact that the population is increasing at enormous, exponential rates, and we are not discovering any new oil pockets that are substantial enough to allow us to continue with our current rate of consumption for more than a few decades at best.

what does it mean??? Hmm. I wonder.....nah, better not think about it.

oh and I'm agnostic BTW......
While you're checking the dictionary for the meaning of magnanimous, take a look at both enormous and exponential. Population growth rates are in decline. Current rate of world population growth is about 1.14% The peak was in the 1960s, with about a 2% growth rate.

As for the US:
"The rate of population growth (in the US) is projected to decrease during the next six decades by about 50 percent, from 1.10 between 1990 and 1995 to 0.54 between 2040 and 2050."
-that's from the US Census Bureau, though, so it's probably a pack of lies.

Seems to me you're pulling stuff out of your bee-hind.

How can we trust your doomsday scenario when you are getting such easily verifiable facts wrong?

Err_eur, cut the name calling and the threats out, nobody here is intimidated by you.

As I was saying, you continue to refuse the possibility of fuel cells as a very alternate and realistic source of energy.

did you look at the link I posted? I think it sums up the problem with the "fuel cell" solution. We simply do not have the time to implement that on a global level to the extent that it would be needed to replace the demand for fossil fuels. Maybe, hopefully, I am wrong.

for a laugh watch this.

That bullshit from nothing more then skeptics. A lot of people are convinced that we could very quickly switch to fuel cell technology if there was a general willingness to do so by a self interested government.

I think his point is, that there wouldn't be any headline. The US is moving towards a situation where, Nazi style, they could have secret police take you away without any record of it. You would just have disappeared - no need to be charged with anything, no need for anyone to explain why, no possibility for you to communicate with anyone, no appeal, no lawyer, no record of you being "arrested"...

Scary really but that is the reality the world is facing.
My point was that I think that's ridiculous.
It is not ridiculous, it is simply fact. It has happened in the US since 2001, and it is now 'legal' for the US government to disappear people.

US citizens no longer have rights. The only question is to what extent the US government will act upon the dictatorial power it now has. The US citizen now lives by the whim of the government.

you can be picked up off the street, put in a secret prison, and left there to rot for decades. all legal coutesy of your federal government
