Krugger- Any luck with creating that hybrid template? I'm still scratching my head on this one....

Your question should actually be "Krugger, any luck with the girlfriend?"

The answer is no. And today is Friday which means I need to take her out!

The other problem is my previous post > I'm not seeing the Plugin Automap stable enough (and out-of-sync sometimes) to bother with it for the time being.

I like the Mixer automap and i think the 8 endless knobs work great for Racks (with no parameter jump when switching plugin)

I think I am going to mess around with the racks as well to see if I can get there for now. I spoke with Novation this morning and this is what they said:

"this is something that is not possible at present but that we think would add much more functionality to the SL and is something we have been looking at for the future. There are other developments which we could tie this in with but I afraid you will have to hold tight for those!"

So for now, it seems like a real hybrid automap is not obtainable. At least they are considering something like this potentially for the future!

plugin automap is barely working here. most of the time the template 38 doesn't send any signal at all (I don't see the midi indicator blinking in ableton live, and nothing's happening) or switches back to template 40, or the learn feature doesn't work (ohmboyz).
mixer automap is ok, I think.

a waste of time, I'll wait for the next update.
Hm, I said that about kore, too. now kore 1.1 is out, and the controller still sits on the shelf.

Odd thingy here, on template 40(ableton) the SL displays the tracks and volumes as normal, even when I change them on screen, but does not allow me to grab control of them via the hardware. I have tried every combination in the midi preferences but no go. I'm on Live 5.2 as well. Anyone else run into this?

same here, this drove me nuts yesterday. :?
Rebooting your computer should solve the problem, I haven't found another solution yet.

as i said, it's too fresh, too early to rely on

let the techno-maniacs test it and fix it for us then use the technology in 6 months

aren´t you the guys doing that ?????

it surelly seems so....

you even considered novation releasing a finished soution ???

it´s not in their nature, not in this modern computer-novation age, maybe it was when they only built synths, but no more...

the first remotes where faulty,
they still feature the best novation controller keyboards but without ableton pickup option the endless encoders are worthless and they never bothered to revise that or at least public apologise to customers for never being able to get them to work in relative mode, too bad it was one of the most advertised features at their release...

with the sl generation they lowered the keyboard quality,
i suppose that´s why they created the zero sl,
and,
how much time did you first buyers had to wait until a working revision of automap was available ???

did you guys really expected universal automap to be working right out of the box (er, dl...) ?

my opinion about novation / sl / uni automap:

if, and this is a big if,
they ever get it to work sometime during this next summer,
maybe, again, a big maybe,
it is time to get an sl second hand / stock clearance / etc as long as it is cheap like it´s build quality

i hardly think pissing about with the SL for a couple of hours gets me fitted in the 'tester' category

more like the 'curious' type - and it didn't deliver as i wanted it to - so i'll leave it to others to test it thoroughly.

so no, i'm not one of 'them' - my patience runs out within a few hours (sometimes minutes) and i'm selfish enough to simply want things to WORK without caring why/how it went wrong.

that said, i do think the SL, whether in its current physical release or future one, will solves a lotta software control problems while remaining a compact solution but it will take a bit of time and releases.

Whether I can be arsed enough to wait for that day is another story.

I have been reading the various comments to Automap
as I am about to invest in a controller

I have been looking at

Bitsream 3x, Behringer BCF and the Zero SL
no keys needed as I have my trusty Jupiter 6 for that task.

I mainly want to use it to control live in a studio environment but may also use it mobile for DJing with a laptop.

So whats the verdict ?

my main concern with the zero and the bitsream is the faders look quite small in length - I like the BCF size

however for easy control of everything with no under the hood midi programming required then the zero sl appears a better option for me.

it appears to support most of the VST's and plugs I would use.

thoughts from those using the SL with the new automap?

anybody else with this problem:

switching to another template (bass station, for example) works fine - but when I want to switch back to Ableton or Universal automapping, no controls are avaialble!

Didi I miss something?

Same here. I have to admit though, I'm a complete fanboy for the Zero SL. And until they fix this, I'm fine with the Ableton Template to control both Live and plug-ins.

Figured out my problem regarding everything working except knob turns.
I needed to reinstall the new templates... apparently they didn't get installed the first time.

PS: the knob-jump-even-on-pick-up bug is annoying as shit, however it does work if you turn Ableton's pickup mode on...
