guns make it too easy to kill someone. maybe a bomb would have caused as much or more carnage, but its not nearly as easy to put together, plant, execute ...etc , and importantly it would take planning. it would be pre-meditated.

I'm certain that alot of the gun murders in the USA happen shortly after someone is pissed off, flips out. If they didnt have a gun, by the time they'd conceivably be in a position to murder - they may have calmed down.

with a gun, you can get the idea to kill and achieve it rapidly.

And this kid was an exchange student which means it would have been Illegal for him to own ANY kind of firearm whatsoever. Both guns found on him at VT had all serial numbers shaved off/missing so they were bought underground and are in that 93% stat of Illegal guns used for violent crime already stated.

We're unfortuneatly not in a utopia in the USA and we are fighting just to keep rights for workers, keep from destroying our planet, and keep from surrendering our constitution to an imaginary war on fear.

All the while being called anti-american by the right for having a differing opinion.

I just think there are more important issues to tackle than trying to push the no-win agenda of increasing gun legislation right now.

I'm a peacenik vegan (non-hippy) but I think pushing a devisive issue like this hurts all other progress right now.

So true! I don't believe for a second that this tragedy was the work of anyone other than the guy who did it, but I also don't doubt for a second that certain parties would love to exploit the divisive angle...
