there are fox studios in Sydney - the last 3 star wars movies were made there
ther eare post prod houses here in Qld as well but I dont know much about them - here's one:

hello
i used to work in production and post production, working at a company located in the Fox Studios thing that Forge mentioned.
before i was working there my friends there all worked on a movie called Babe which was about a pig, i worked on the crocodile hunter movie and more recently my ex colleagues worked on a penguin movie called happy feet so my experiences have lead me to believe that animal movies are almost mandatory for your transition into a career in media and entertainment in australia.
theres a load of production houses and companies but theres a bit of competition too, but most of the competition is in the post production side and also 'producers' are in demand here.
you will find something pretty easily if you are from overseas.
