DEAR ABES,

I HOPE YOU REMEMBER:

"Live 6 still has the limitation that only the first 128 paramters can be automated. It's on top of all related plug-in improvements but it did not make into Live 6. Feel free to vote for it in the wishlist forum.

Regards,
/Alex"

SO HERE WE ARE !!!

Live's automation is too good NOT to fix this. I love this program but it frustrates me daily that I can't fully use all of the features of some of my favorite synths.

As someone/many have said before, this is a BUG FIX, not a new piece of functionality, PLEASE fix it! You can't really call yourself a proper DAW until you do.

The solution is so obvious.. Its doing my head in.

- Right-click on a vst and select "show parameter list"

- It will show a list of ALL the parameters in the browser. (just like MIDI assignments)

- You can rearrange the order of the parameters. Move the ones you wish to automate to the top.

- Save as "parameter list for plugin X"

Added bonus:

- Since you have a custom arranged list of 128 parameters, you also have the ability to control these parameters using CC 0 to 127. (Automapping XL :D)

- The same thing would work for finally adding automation in session view for Ableton devices, since CC's can be recorded already.

So freaking simple...

I was talking about the solution being obvious for Ableton.
That it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
Obviously this has still not been implemented.

I should perhaps stop using the word "obvious", obviously

oh dear..

Please hoffman2k accept my apologies :D I thought it was directed to the user and not to Ableton. So I retract my last post. No hard feelings hey

No problem mate. I can see where my post could have been confusing. Sorry about that ;)

on the other hand, i HATE when i assign only 4 parameters in kontakt and it still shows the other 124 (which are left blank).
so shall i make a new thread for LESS vst paramters?

(i'm joking and fully support you guys)

Topic slowly sinking to the bottom half of the page... Bumping back to top :P

Combined with the multiple automation lanes added into Live 7, the 128 parameter limit is a nasty bugger.

I actually don't need more than 128 parameters.. 8O
