Re: iPad
Apple WWDC Keynote next Monday. Looking forward with mostly moderate levels of excitement
iOS 9 – hope it’s just focused on streamlining and stability
OSX .11 - hope it’s just focused on streamlining and stability
Apple TV – new Apple TV hardware and/or revamped UI and OS with apps
New music streaming service – My music consumption mainly consists of music I own and Pandora. I don’t do Spotify. I may be willing to kick down $10 a month if Apple can do some semblance of owned music/Pandora/Spotify.

Giving iTunes radio another try. Just discovered there's a per channel setting that you can choose hits, variety, or discovery. That's pretty cool.
Also thought they killed the purchase track button which would be stupid, but discovered it doesn't display it if you already own the track playing.
I'm also wondering if discovery mode won't play songs that are already in your library.

Re: iPad
^ From what I gather it's not Apple's fault. It's Ableton needing to rewrite the code from the ground up. Other DAWs don't have this problem on the Apple watch. The only reason I want to use Live on the Apple watch is because it's important to my workflow and the album I've been working on since the late 70's requires Ableton to get their shit together... or I'm going to start flame wars in protest. This is unacceptable

Sums up every review of the Apple Watch. It's flaky, laggy, and borderline pointless, but it's fun to try!

I still haven't seen anyone actually wearing one in person. Can't be that popular yet.

I’m sure there are restaurants in Palo Alto with tables packed with young techies glancing at their wrist every 5 seconds instead of starring at their phone because that’s totally not annoying or disruptive to a conversation.

Re: iPad
Digging some of Apple Radio’s First Play stations, listen to an entire album before it’s released. Not sure what kind of payola might be going on behind the scenes there to decide who gets that kind of exposure.
Re: iPad
I’d be happy if the new Apple streaming music service just let you stream every track and album in the iTunes store. No need for a fancy new app or interface. Maybe let you also make playlists the same way you already do with your owned music library, just seamless between what you own and what’s available with the service. Seems like that would be an easy enough starting point.
Re: iPad
I don’t use Spotify but it sounds like the same concept they are aiming for. It just seems it would make the most sense to bake it all into iTunes.
Re: iPad
Apple as a "me too" company? That's new. It might be hard to copy Spotify past the mere UI looks. The gentleman who coded Spotify also coded uTorrent. He has the insight what file every Torrent server in the world has and how to deliver the file a user requested the quickest, best distributed way, from the servers nearest to the user. This insight might come very handy when millions of Spotify users request mp3s to stream.beats me wrote:I don’t use Spotify but it sounds like the same concept they are aiming for.
Unless Apple's streaming service acts as a front for Spotify, Apple will be trying to serve millions of potential users from their own server instead. That server is about to get a real good workout...
