Must be a lot of “haven’t listened to the radio in years” snobs that think this is groundbreaking.

Checking out the new Beats 1 global live radio station because the net is abuzz with “This is amazing!”. Um, if playing songs that sound exactly like songs being played on the radio but aren’t is amazing, then yeah, its amazaballs!!

I'm in charge of music in our office. In the car its mostly talk podcasts or latest revisions of my tracks. When I'm cooking I usually listen to music from the 1930's.

There are actually some decent songs being played on Beats 1 if you appreciate/tolerate pop music. They even tossed in some DnB tracks that weren’t too poppy.
So far the most active artist on my connect list is NIN/Trent Reznor, some reworked tracks and an entire album in instrumental version. Seems to work sort of like Facebook in that it scours your music library and then decides you want to follow those artists, sort of. I’m following 104 artists without setting anything up. Obviously I have a lot more artists in my library than that, but maybe those are the only ones that have Connect accounts setup. Easy enough to unfollow artists off a master follow list. You can also have it auto follow artists as they are added to your library.

Re: iPad
Music you download from Apple Music for offline playing won’t install on an iPod Classic. Not something to work out in the preferences. You get a popup telling you that when you sync. Fuck.
I installed Yosemite on an early 2009 Mac Mini which is on Apple’s “really fucking pushing it, bro” list. So far I didn’t notice it being anymore sluggish than Mountain Lion, but I haven’t run it through its paces yet, typing more than 3 letters in a search without getting a beach ball or streaming music for more than 2 hours without getting an auto-reboot. I really take my computer to extremes.

It’s probably Apple’s famed (false) planned obsolescence. “Time to buy an iPod Touch, bitch”. I would if they would slap a big boy drive in them.
I’m probably having an old man moment here, but I can’t believe how many people are mad that Beats 1 is playing censored tracks, like kids being around is the only possible scenario when profanity wouldn’t be appropriate. Really?
Re: iPad
They really need to make buying music easier on the Apple Music side of things. As it is now you have to click/tap a popup menu and pick Show in iTunes Store that then opens the iTunes store. There should just be a Buy button on the Apple Music interface. Why make it difficult?
Re: iPad
Massive Attack must make a fortune off Apple. Every time I tried their radio before, if I did anything electronic half of it would be Massive Attack.

That’s Apple Music’s For You interface that you’re supposed to use for discovery. Starts with genres and then moves to artists. The more you pick and remove the better station it’s supposed to create for you. Haven’t used it yet.
I get the impression there’s going to be a lot of crowd sourcing to improve things. A lot of bad selections in the beginning but as more people with similar tastes like and dislike songs the better the selections get. I think that’s how other similar services work too to different degrees. I think Spotify is more social and specific in that it also bases a lot on what your friends like and are listening to.
