I don't care what you guys think. I like the track. :x

Oddly the chorus happy synths sound more Daft Punk than Daft Punk now. :|
Wtf does that video have to do with the track?? :? & :x

I could live with that track on the Daft Punk album (if it was them) but seriously I kept skipping tracks cuz the look on my sons face :x said it all... He was like
it fucking SUCKS
and he was right

People still watch videos? 8O Beyond “so that’s what they look like” I don’t see the point.

I hear the latest Daft Punk album as being more a tribute to the past before Daft Punk existed. But even their other albums are full of plenty of cheese and filler. Their 2007 Live album is good for bobbing your head, bouncing, and pumping your fists but when you listen to the albums those songs came from there’s going to be a lot of :? skipping.

Bt & The Roots live on Carson Daly

Back in the day, I was a pretty big bt fan. I still appreciate a lot of the older music that his name was on. His more recent stuff... well, I haven't even acquired or heard his most recent album.

So I went out of my way to make sure to catch this performance, and still watch it sometimes. The more I know about electronic music performance, the more I'm not sure which aspects of the production And the actual performance (in that video) process he was involved in. I'm sure he was responsible for giving the album version a slick sheen and working with the guys to do something electronic.

The Roots on their own are extremely talented. It is kind of funny seeing bt up there with these guys who have had years of stage experience. Not that he hasn't had his own, but in a different kind of way.

The pushy keyboard 'chrome pony' comes off more as a novelty prop. And his other synth makes what literally sounds like a whoopee cushion. I guess there's nothing wrong with a massive wet fart every other bar.

I was recently thinking about potential bitter road crew veterans. Maybe 20 years ago they were cutting their teeth on setting up for U2, Janet Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Soul Asylum, etc. Music taste aside there was talent and people on stage. Now they are setting up enough lights and screens to rival Vegas in support of a guy who stands behind a table and maybe throws a knob or fader every so often and anybody with zero music experience after a couple weeks practicing on the same setup could flawlessly pull off the exact same show.

The shit ain’t right, yo. :x

Yeah, but I doubt they care as long as they're getting paid, probably no different. And there will always be someone to replace the guy saying "Set up for Deadmau5? No way!"

I always thought that would be an interesting job, but personally at this point I think I would be more enamored with the people who designed the spectacle than the guy getting worshipped for doing dick all on stage.

True. I did a bit of PA/visual/light rigging for an event company here, setting stuff up for large galas in theaters and museums. I didn't care what the actual show was, I was getting good pay+usually overtime if a shift went over 12 hours. I got burnt out with setting and striking but still found the overall design interesting. They were just starting to get into projection mapping on my way out, too. Leave the grunt work for the kids though :P

I have a connection to a local company that does large scale video and lighting events (mostly sports, meh) I could possibly get a job there but I doubt they could pay me as much as I am getting now (which already isn’t a lot) and even though I don’t have a vibrant busy life outside work, at my age I really don’t want to work mostly nights and weekends.

Yeah if it's setting and striking that's too much a pita imo. Not as an age thing, I'd just rather be building in software. It is good exercise, and beer does taste better after that, just the way I see it is let the young'uns do the heavy lifting and the experienced use more of their brains. I'd imagine you get paid more though if you aren't making much now.

Our household income is a little north of 100K. In the Bay Area that isn’t much. A few K south of that and its time move to an unsavory neighborhood.

Now that I’ve spent about a week with Apple Music I think I’ve mostly done things I can do without Apple Music, mostly create radio stations off a song in my library. If I don’t like where it’s heading I just pick another song in my library to create a station from. That's a tad easier than Pandora. I’ve heard the selection gets better the more you like/star songs, but who has the mindset to remember to like and dislike every song that is played. I’ve been putting some effort into it. On the Apple Music side I’ll occasionally listen to Beats 1 or stream an entire album I don’t own.

But I’m also realizing what a money trap this whole rent-every-song-ever-produced model is. You stop paying and most or all of your library goes poof. Who wants that hanging over their head?

Still the biggest deal breaker for me is no syncing Apple Music to my iPod Classic because driving is the time I would most likely be able to digest and pay attention to new music. Everywhere else I’m distracted and music is just a background noise.

Your first order of business is 5 minutes after you install it go post in the Music Production forum that Live doesn’t work on it. There’s no higher calling than reporting that a piece of software that is perpetually in beta doesn’t work on an OS that is in early beta.

Also only work on important projects on as many pieces of software that are in beta as possible. If you want to be a hero also throw some alpha software in there as well.

^ yep. And don't forget to start a post bitching about Ableton and their lack of support while in another thread trashing NI or some other controller or interface manufacturer for not having drivers updated yet.

Artists are posting playlists on Connect. Some are posting their own music and others just music they like. Trent Reznor posted a playlist of songs by Grizzly Bear, alt rock band with kind of a 60’s sound. Nothing about it would make you think of course Trent likes and is going to promote these guys. I fully believe he was doing Trent things with these guys playing in the background and then decided to login and share it. He may be big time but I believe he has the kind of integrity where he isn’t going to hire somebody to post things on his behalf. Kind of cool and interesting to hear what other artists are into with an easy way to add it to your own collection. Take that, Facebook!

iOS 9 is going to force you to have a 6 digit lock code. WTF, why? Are people’s kids easily figuring out the 4 digit code going through the 10,000 possible combinations? :x
