Re: iPad
I'm still on the hunt for a simple 2 input channel audio interface that can be powered by the iPad. If I could take my Circuit (battery powered), my ipad (Auria) and a decent quality audio interface out in the forests to record some live sets, that would be so cool.

Re: iPad
The Roland is looking like the best option, since it can be battery powered. I've had confirmation from some people on the Audiobus forums that the Presonus can't be buss powered by the iPad unfortunately. Shame, I've been liking what Presonus has been making lately.

Re: iPad
Got my first Apple Watch, a series 2. Here are some of my findings.
I use the modular watch face
-top left corner calendar. I often need to know the date at work and that helps. If you tap on it, it opens the calendar watch app so you can scroll through what you have coming up.
-top right corner time. Duh.
-middle weather. Displays current temperature, conditions, and predicted highs and lows for wherever you are located at the time. Tap it and it opens the weather watch app which will display the hourly forecast. Tap on that and you get the 10 day forecast. You can also scroll through locations you have saved linked to the iOS weather app.
-bottom left corner messages. Tap on it to go to the messages app for texting. More on that to come.
-bottom middle timer. I don’t have a set time for my lunch at work so when I go to lunch I tap it to open the timer watch app and start the timer. Back in the main watch face it displays the countdown and the watch vibrates when the time is up. Also great for monitoring laundry rotation.
-bottom right corner activity tracker rings. Gives you an overview of time spent walking, exercising, and standing compared to your set goal. Tap it to get more details. It’s widely known that it isn’t all that accurate and most activity trackers wouldn’t display the same info if you slapped them all on. Just accept that you are measuring in Apple units (whatever those are) and don’t worry about it unless you are a fitness accuracy fanatic.
I haven’t used the maps app on it directly but it auto syncs when you use maps on your iPhone and displays basic direction info like next turn or exit you will be taking with distance to that and estimated ETA to your final destination. It also vibrates when you get close to your next turn or exit. This is great for short city streets. I often get depth perception issues looking at the overview of the map or even listening to Siri. The watch won’t vibrate until you’ve past the previous turn option. So no worries about turning down a street that is before the one you are supposed to take.
When I’m at home my iPhone is often plugged in the charger on silent/vibrate mode so I often miss calls or texts. It’s great getting those notifications and being able to respond to those from the watch as long as I am in Bluetooth range or on the same wifi network. You can even accept and make phone calls using the built-in microphone and speaker. I’m assuming a linked Bluetooth headset would work as well.
More to come…..

Re: iPad
When people are writing app reviews I wish Apple would force them to display which version of hardware they are talking about through either auto detect or a selectable option. On the friendly side this would help readers to determine if their model might have issues. On the less than friendly side this would help with the idiots who don’t think it’s important to mention they are on a model that would barely qualify as a door stop at this point.
Re: iPad
No good deed goes unpunished. Wrote a mostly glowing review of the Apple Watch on here and a few hours later it goes into power reserve mode because the battery is down to 10% even though I put it on the charger last night. Guess one of the pitfalls of wireless surface charging is you can’t have confidence it’s charging like with a clicked in cable.
Re: iPad
And after not wearing a watch probably since middle school my Apple Watch goes down after 3 weeks of usage and I feel like something is horribly amiss.
Re: iPad
I've only used Apple Pay on the iPhone like twice because I can't get it to come up half the time fumbling around with the multi function button and I think its somewhat one of those pretentious "look at me and my fancy phone" Apple maneuvers.
However I used it on the Apple Watch and it was glorious. Just double tap the side button, wave it over the POS machine, and done. No chance of hitting the wrong button combo and its a lot more subtle than whipping your phone out of your pocket.
I realize on some level using the Apple Watch is even more pretentious then using the iPhone.

http://ableton.github.io/export/
Ableton is at it again with the iOS tech.
Easily export 'sets' from iOS apps. Supported by Patterning, Blocs (been meaning to check that one out) and Triq Traq (forgot the spelling on it).
I don't know if it works how they show in the video. I do know something like that would be possible. Maybe it does work like that?? If an app hosts a server and your computer accesses the server maybe it could quickly dl the set. I don't know. I have not tried it yet.
This kind of makes me wonder if they are cooking up an iOS version of Live
