Hi guys! Just wanted to say that so far I have fallen in love with Ableton and absolutely adore the interface.

I did have one question, however.

I am using the Trigger Finger by m-audio ( http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/T ... inger.html ), and of course using it through USB as a midi controller to fire off the clips loaded into Live. Because I would like to use this as sort of a live instrument, I would like to hit a pad and have it instantly fire off the respective sample. Is there any way to do this? As of now, I hit a pad and it waits a couple seconds so that it can lock on beat - which is usually a good thing, but not so much for what I'm interested in for live stuff.

Hello,

there is several methods to do this.

- One easy thing is to use a drum rack or Impulse (if you have less than 8 samples to load), and put in the samples you want, and your Trigger Finger will act as an MPC. But the samples will not be stretched to fit the BPM of the song.

- If you uses clips to be triggered, you can set their quantization in the clip view to None. The clips are by default automatically stretched to fit BPM.

as pample said but if you are new to clarify a little more.

You need to press the little L in the bottom left hand corner of the clip view box and this will open the launch tab. Then change Quantization to none and the clips will launch instantly.

Ah yes, sorry to be too fast in my explanation. Also, in the launch tab, you can modify the launch mode to one these choices:

Trigger: down starts the clip; up is ignored.
Gate: down starts the clip; up stops the clip.
Toggle: down starts the clip; up is ignored. The clip will stop on the next down.
Repeat: As long as the mouse switch/key is held, the clip is triggered repeatedly at
the clip quantization rate.
