I'm skipping the live 7 round of upgrades. But I might do 8, if the feature set and performance seems to have improved significantly.

So a quick rundown of the expected features and performance gains will be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Live 8 will be out February 16th, and it will feature all of the requested features and improvements that have been asked for in the Feature Request section of this forum.

You can read all about these in the very colorful and informative "Live 8 Features and Exciting Release News" section on the home page.

OH YEAH NEVERMIND THEY HAVEN'T ANNOUNCED SHIT

It's looking like a late November release for the beta of 8.

it has been, what.. a week without a Live 8 thread, and i was really holding myself back not to start a new one... because honestly, i feel it coming.
my crystal ball says: if not this then next week
and it will not be called Live 8
it will be something like..... Live Pro XL
they will address straight live performance and djing features
and it's not going to be the same old "more instruments and couple of enhancements" update. we will see a little conceptual change on top of it. because the plan on the long run is to re-write this software (on the long run, because i dont believe they had enough time to do it now)
thats right.

Predicting: Pay for Vocoder...

If it's free I'd be surprised.

I'm thinking they may separate the software in the future:

Ableton Producer

Ableton Live (Live performances and Djing in collab with Serato)

or maybe Serato will just be able to integrate with Ableton Some how

Imagine you are Ableton and ask yourself.

* What's the largest potential untapped market for Live?
* What's missing in live that stops it from selling to that market?
* How can we provide the missing stuff by designing new tools that fit in with the Live philosophy. i.e. flexible tools that can be combined in creative ways.

e.g. in Live 6 - changes to simpler, the new Note Length effect and Racks made it possible to create the EIC. The EIC - together with Video Clips - opens the market to composers and producers who are looking for a one stop solution.

They could have just created a Rompler but instead delivered the new content by a clever combination of generally useful new tools.
