I feel like something like this
would be a lot of fun, if it were midi, and we could assign different CCs to the X/Y Coordinates.
Does something like this exist?

novation's remote series of controllers have them and a whole ton of other stuff too. used a remote25 for years and when it got a bit knackered I upgraded to an SL37, I can't rate them enough for studio and live use. Has a software editor included so programming it is a piece of piss.

Yeah, I've seen the nanopad and the padkontrol. a unit with only a touchpad would be interesting though. The nanopads are so cheap that I guess it's probably the best bet anyway.

iphone/ipod touch ftw, along with a ton of other music and controller related apps available for it.
