Just uploaded the (pre)mastered* version of my "Empty Unit E.P." to my virb profile...

3 stomping (hard)techno tracks all free to download at 320Kbps, 44,100Hz, 16bit.

Proper warehouse tunes.

Would really appreciate any feedback/constructive criticism.

Many thanks,

OB1 - http://www.virb.com/ob1

*yes, I've been consulting Tarekith's mastering guide (very good BTW Tarekith)

EDIT 21/11/08: I have added the fourth and last track from the E.P. today - grab 'em while you can as I'll be removing the download links in a couple of weeks.

I have added the fourth and last track from the E.P. today, "Code 10" - It's probably my favourite of the 4 - pure filth!

Grab 'em while you can as I'll be removing the download links in a couple of weeks.

These are some damn good tracks you've got going. Out of Existence is my favorite i think. All the mixes sound balanced, perhaps try and work on the the stereo imaging a bit more. Although through a fat club sound system this doesn't really matter as it pretty much all mono anyway!

One thing I noticed is when i drop your tracks into itunes and compare the level with a few other tracks of a similar style (I used Sven Wittekind for this example) the level is quite low on the overall mix.

I don't know what limiting you have applied but perhaps all tracks could be bought up a bit. The old classic PSP vintage warmer is great for bringing out the nasty side of this sort of stuff and giving that in your face sound.

Anyway, great work and keep it up!

Thanks catch22 - appreciate your comments.

I agree that the stereo imaging is very narrow as I produced these tracks from elements of my live set, which is always played on a big club rig! It's something that I am working on.

The loudness is something which is a bit of a bone of contention for me... I despise the loudness wars and I have tried using mastering plugs in the past but I dislike the loss of dynamics. Thanks for the tip on the vintage warmer - I'll try and find a demo copy. And thanks for the Sven Wittekind comparison - he's obviously an influence to me!

Really diggin your tracks OB1, Proper free party material. Nice and pumping. The sound is so tight aswell. Really good shit.

Reminds me of the free parties i used to attend around the oxfordshire area.

:) :) :) :)

Thanks very much. Most of my influence comes from the free party scene. Used to go to some of the ridgeway parties, which I guess is the sort of area you mean?

Yeh definately man, the ridgeway was where i first went free partying. Also in the tunnel under the A43.

Proper decent partys there.

Awesome stuff.
