Resetting the Pre-Listen Pref every time?/multi-hardware?

Is it true that all users have to reset the pre-listening preference every time they boot LIVE?
Anyone hear of plans to support multiple audio devices/drivers at the same time? This would be a great way to be able to cue sounds without having to use an outboard mixer.
