I can purchase an educational licence for Live 7 for a very reasonable price.

Do I buy or do I wait for Live 8 ?

I feel that this is a reasonable question, but I also acknowledge that the subject of Live 8 can evoke very irrational responses.

if you dont mind waiting then its worth it... so long as they do the free upgrade when its anounced

but

nobody can tell you how long your going to wait

You should ask yourself: Do I want to use Live during the next couple of months?

If yes, purchase now. If no, wait until you need it.

Why did you ask then? Just buy 7 and upgrade when 8 eventually makes it's appearance... bloody students!

I would ask support if you buy now will there be a cheaper upgrade path. They normally do have free upgrades for people who purchased within a certain time window, but ask them anyway.

I think there was a post a few weeks ago stating that abes were doing an announcement at one of the trade shows in january.

I asked the supplier about upgrade periods but they decline to answer. I think the next trade show will be interesting.
