Audio keeps disappearing from clip view...

Does anyone else have this problem using Live?

I'll be working on a project, recording some audio in the clip view but not rendering it. I'll work on the project off and on for a number of sessions (opening and closing it). Then one day I open the project and all of my audio clips are gone (the Sample Offline message showing across the clip view).

I should add that I have not disconnected any storage devices where the samples might be kept, nor have I moved them or changed any default settings of any kind. When I work on a project, I'll just tinker with it now and then, which only involves opening the project, clicking "save" when I've added something new and then closing the project.

I'll repeat this process again and again for weeks sometimes, then one day I open the project and the audio is gone.

Is there anything I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!

Making a backup?

As a matter of fact, yes. I do back it up to a different drive. I tried loading the project from the back-up drive as well with the same results. I don't know if I confused Live by doing this...

Do a "collect all and save" instead of a normal save.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! In the meantime I just hope I can find all of my missing audio...

Make sure you have the disc space available before you do this :!:

Does the "collect all and save" render the audio and save it or something like that? Is that why I would need extra disk space (though I have a huge amount of storage in general--four separate hard drives equalling about 1200 gigabytes)?

It collects all the audio samples used in the project. It will not render instruments. Unless you freeze them first.

Gotcha. Thanks very much!
