audio interface/mixer question

Hey all, relatively new to Live here...getting ready to hopefully play out with my band & ableton here soon and just need some info...

I have a macbookpro and I'm hoping to have a main stereo out from ableton as well as a separate out for a click track...to send to the drummer.... problem is my mbox only has 2 outputs... I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a good mixer or interface that will carry more than 2 outputs from the computer so i can keep that main stereo out from ableton clicktrack-free.

am i wasting my time since most smaller 8 to 12 usb/firewire mixers only carry 2 outputs from laptops?

OR maybe stereo really isn't necessary and a band can get by with mono ableton accompaniment...what do u guys think?

THANKS!

You're either going to have to sacrifice your stereo outs, splitting it to where your cue is channel 1 and your main output is channel 2 (or vice versa). Or bye a new interface. I'm using a m-audio fast track pro. I recommend it since it has two stereo outs and it's also relatively inexpensive. Check out some more interfaces at sweetwater!

Cool...yeah i had a feeling a new interface was in order. Thanks Yoseph.

If anyone else has any further input/advice on a quality mixer/interface to help my situation i'd definitely appreciate it.

check presonus firebox, it has 6 outputs, spdif output, and the headphone output which can be used to route any other output, like the spdif one.

MOTU Ultralite might be an option for you as well considering you'll be with a band, and may require more inputs/outputs down the road.

Use a small MIDI device for a click track rather than buy a multi-out soundcard... much cheaper and non-redundant with your Digi02. And old drum machine or something should do just fine!

thanks for all the helpful feedback guys... the presonus firebox looks great for what i need...also found a similar one made by Edirol...the Edirol FA-66...

i'm kind of bummed because I've been trying to find an 8 channel firewire or usb mixer to take care of it...but they all seem to only carry 2 channels from the computer...oh well. i guess if anyone knows of one lemme know...otherwise its probably one of those aforementioned interfaces for me!

thanks again.

Although I love buying new gear, I hate paying for new gear :-p
Have you tried building an Aggregate Device and sending the click track through your macbook's built-in audio card?
