Can I automate synth, effect parameters within clips? In other words have a synth or VST effect knob tweak the way I want it to each time I trigger a specific clip? Obviously you can do this with the sequencer in arrangement mode, but it would be cool to know how to do with each individual clip.

Yes you can! In clip view, there is a little "E" button, this opens up the envelope settingsHere is a great tutorial explaining how to do this.
