hey guys, just curious if people have any recommendations for some thick sounding filters, either plug-ins or well priced and easy to use hardware.
i've been also interested in looking into the liquid mix, i know its a not meant for 'filters', but could you use the eq's for that? also any thoughts on the kp3 for use along these lines?
thanks for the tips,
j

If you want THICK sounding filters, i say hardware.
Example, the mutronics, the moogerfooger or the sherman, or Jomox T-Resonator
You asked for thick

aye... Great digital filters, seem very hard to come buy. Even on the synths, arrg, thee whole thing is a mess.
I really like the OHM BoYs, Quad Fromage, although I haven't bought it yet. I am keen on the Schwa Oligarc Filter, that is only $20 btw, I own that. I am kinda liking the filter from the Sonalksis TB pack, I demo'd that, but don't own it.
UM, Sugar-Bytes WOW, is good. They have a better resonance implementation on Unique, IMO, I don't know wtf is going on with WOW. I am undecided on that, it is very good.....
Everybody says, BuY Filter Freak, but that is very expensive and dongle, and I haven't tried it, have no opinion on it.

Sound toys stuff is worth getting.
I don't use the filters as much as I should but the Delay and the Crystaliser plug are awef*ckingsome. . .

you should check out the resonator by frostwave. It's not that expensive, could be hard to find these days, however it sounds amazing for an ms20 clone filter.

i happen to like fabfilter volcano 2 and ohm force stuff for the filter bank thing and sonalksis TBK for basic sweeps. sugar bytes WOW is also pretty sweet. PSP nitro gets a lot of use in my stuff too

the hardware filters mentioned above are analog, not digital.
i really like the Sherman, but if you're looking for clean filtering, that's not the one to get. it goes from subtle overdrive to ridiculous distortion, but it doesn't do clean well.
