What is everyone using for sending midi to their synths etc.
Im using my padkontrol at the minute so its not being put to any good use
Had my eye on a Motu Midi express but it has gone up in price.
Looking for atleast 4 IN and 4 OUT as ill be always interested in losing money to synthesizers

Edirol UA101 handles the midi guitar
BCR handles the MPC
Remote SL handles the full sized keyboard controller
so, rather than a midi merge box I use USB devices.

The messy solution
Probably not really messy. But the way my head thinks, I need some things organised in a way.
My production rate suffers because of it

actually it's rarely if ever a problem. cable management is fine relative to the whole thing, the backside of my desk looks like 50 pounds of black spaghetti.
I guess you could look at it two ways, with my setup more things can go wrong to aggravate me, if the BCR or SL craps out I lose a device. with 1 midi merge box, if that goes down I lose the whole setup, which is what happened to me. I have a midiman midisport 8x8s, every once in a while it would crap out, I'd leave it unplugged overnight and all was well. about a year ago it would not come back to life, so I went with my current setup.
we all work differently, my way is the best and only true way, while your way sucks balls, of course.

I honestly havent been directly affected.
Not a home owner. Dont have kids.
I have no debts. (except a contract to Orange who screw up all the time the idiots. They added 98 quid on my latest bill. All is sorted now but Jesus H. Kensington. Way to want me to cancel the contract and go with o2)
Anyway, I dont know where i stand with regards to this midi controller.
I NEED a midi device and can afford it this seconds.
The likes of KP3 and Mopho are not really needed but would be nice.
And that moog voyager probably will never arrive.
I also heard somewhere (friend of a friend type) that if it plugs in, wait untill after february. Predicted price drop.

Novation Nio connects to the laptop via USB, the Miditech Keyboard and Korg EMX connect to it. The nanoKontrol and the X-Session both connect to the laptop via USB.

off topic - I haven't been affected either, I'm a homeowner with some stocks and shit, it's just what everyone wants to talk about. too much petty holiday get together small talk for me.

I just got a bonus and raise, so, yeah, agreed, not feeling it.

GAS attack!! one of these years I need to treat myself to a properly outrageous synth, there was talk of Virii dropping in price in another thread, things that make you go hmmmm...
just hit the local gear shop and drop some cash, instant gratification, no waiting. some people like to shop around for the best deal, sometimes it just feels great to say fuck it and get what you want in short time and play.
hmmm... actually if you go with my style of setup you get cooler toys than just a midi merge box. just trying to be a bad influence so you can get more gear.

I like your style/attitude. But you would probably give away a piece of gear to me for free if you seen my local gear shop. My
beat making facility
has a lot more equipment!

I have a MOTU Fastlane USB to MIDI which is OK (quite old now), but I tend to just use the MIDI in and out on my Alesis IO14 audio interface. I don't have a lot of MIDI devices and controllers anymore, so I tend to just use my Edirol midi keyboard controller for playing softsynths these days.

was up in derry for busking festival about 10 years ago. as we set off we heard
a loud clank but thought nothing of it. got to derry just in time to register and
bass player remembers he left his trumpet on roof of car.......
after the inevitable beating we went in search of a music shop to hire a trumpet......
needless to say we had no joy...tell me it's improved since then!
m-audio radium usb (noticeable latency to ensure hi-hat parts make ringo look like a timing genius)
damaged korg poly-800 going thru a phatboy into midi in. korg sends out random pitch bend data...usually as i'm trying to make midi assignments.
state of the art stuff i think you'll agree......never did find that trumpet

USB hubs
Well, I do use a midisport uno for devices not using usb. I have a 8 inn 8 out midisport rack unit, but rearly use it anymore.
virus ti, waldorf blofeld, bcr 2000, novation remote zero.. all usbs.

UC-33 via USB to MBP running Live then via FW to MOTU Ultralite via 5-pin MIDI to Waldorf synth.
Works fine - never had any problems sending Midi with this config.
Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with cable spaghetti issues - am finding different coloured cables very useful.

Has anybody had any cpu spikes or latency issues when automating parametres in ableton.
No matter what system i have used i also get kicked in the ass by it. But if i use the pencil too its fine
This is one of the reasons i want to get a new midi device as i think it is the padkontrol.
