padKontrol normal native mode - recordin control change.

I'm using the padKontrol without any external software like maxpatch or anything, just Abletons native support.
This works fine for playing drumracks.
Also, assigning the x-y-pad works, for instance assigning freq/rez to the x/y
pad for the filter in analog. HOWEVER
when I want to record a movement. It does not work. The only way I can
record x/y movement is if I remove the mapping and just treat it as a normal
midi-controller. But then, I cannot remap the controls to freq/rez.
How is this crap supposed to work?
