I have a mpk49 for a while now it's a good controller but if I want to assign slider 9-27 in ableton it doesn't work.
I follow the right steps from the ableton manual I'm pressing midi then midi mapping shows up then I press a slider with my mouse and when I move that slider normally it would be assigned but nothing seems to happen ? The same happens for knobs.

In the akai mpk49 manual they say for editing the sliders you have to change the CC (controller number) but then i have to now the CC numbers they not talking about manually change like the ableton manual explains...

Has somebody the same problem getting frustrated about it...

What Operating system are you using?

Is Lives midi indicator flashing?

I use my MPK with OSX Leopard, and for some reason, it only works if I turn on the keyboard after the computer has been booted up.

i'm using windows xp

Yes the live midi indicator is flashing... and everything sliders, knobs, etc turns in a blue overlay so that's good.

the mpk49 has no on/off switch it's usb powered so it turn's on when the computer is started... maybe i can try to put the usb-cable in the mpk after i started ?

the first thing i would try is midiox to see exactly what the device is sending.

it's working now you must turn remote on from the mpk49 in midi preferences :) but you can't save it i in a own created preset in the mpk49 i think...saving a template in ableton is the only option
