Early Mac Pro 2.0 Dual Core vs Dual 2.3 G5

A local dealer still has a boxed brand new Mac Pro 2.0 Dual Core.
I think this was one of, if not, the first Mac Pro model available.

I'm on a Dual 2.3 G5 which serves me well but the lack of PCIe slots is keeping me away from UAD2.
I can get this machines at a good price, but only if the machine will be a step up from my G5. First of all how does this Dual Core thing compete with the Core2Duo ? I'm looking at running Logic Pro 8, Leopard and Ableton live and some CPU heavy plugs like NI Massive.

Any experience with machine ?
Thanks
F
