A 4 Count To Start???

Anyone know how to get a 4 count to start bangin' out a beat. With my MPC or EPS I can get a 4 count to start.

What I've been doing in Ableton is giving myself 1 bar with the click track on, then playing to the click after the bar. Once I bang out the beat, I can move the tracks back to start on the 1.

Anyone know another way???

Thanks!

What Jack is talking about is a "count-off", not simply a metronome. A count-off will optionally start playing from before bar one. For example, a 1-bar count-off would start at bar "zero", playing for four beats and then bar 1 would play.

Most sequencers have this, and it really is a requirement for any kind of live recording, since a live player must have some way of knowing when the first beat will come. This can work in conjunction with the metronome, by having the metronome provide the "click" during the count-off.

In session view... have the metronome on... set the global quantization menu to 1 bar, 2 bars, or even 4 bars... press play... trigger a clip to be recorded.... listen for the count in of the amount of bars you have selected....start recording...
