http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOTZk0fD6Qs <-- Henke laughing off rumors of a vocoder during a Q&A, redux.
sly mofo!!
I blame all the Daft Punk threads for this Live 8 feature.
guitar through vocoder is pretty damn fun, very much like a midi guitar.

I like a bit of a vocode every now and again! It makes me feel pretty...

Vocoders become intereting to me when you dont use them on vocals
Although I do have a very brief vocode moment on the first track of my new album
It had to be done. I wanted to fit in with the daft punk

btw.: I really had no idea that the Vocoder info has been leaked. So, when that dude asked the question during my talk I was really really confused.
But, yes, there is a Vocoder now, and it can do a lot of really nice things, way beyond the classical chords with vocals stuff....

Does it have an "Around the World" detector that will automatically mute the track as soon as someone says it??

I don't need any additive instrument or fx, already owned plugins and hardware work great.
(perhap's compression and limiter are great add-ons in v7 and v8 )
But please stop inputting extra devices and concentrate on making workflow better (still no dual screen and adjustable gui)...
cheers

The vocoder is a classic effect. I wonder how classic it will be once its readily available through ableton? Will its use become even more a relic?
Interesting how the glitch plug was really just something that was a manual chop or edit. Seems like its use was looked down upon when this auto plug was introduced.
Do you think we will see vocoded material being thrown about like its going out of style? ..literally killing its self to the point were its just stupid.
..seems when successful musicians use these effects its well liked and excepted, but when a nobody uses these effects people will think you are trying to sound like so and so.
I apologize for being so controversial!
and I appreciate all of the new features!
Realizing now that my own focus is to not use these effects. Maybe backing up my own knowledge of music in general will help when implementing such decisions? I think I'm babbling now I'll stfu now.

Well, all the other DAWs have had vocoders for years, so i don't think ableton getting one will really make any difference...

Too bad most of Daft Punk's vocals are run through a talkbox, not a voco.
