Hi,

what a ballyhoo about this new release...! Those plugins and stuff are nice adds, but i'm more curious about the new workflow features. Will they kill this stupid Native Instrument Illness (you know, click on the plug to edit it, click back on the Live GUI to work in Live again, how annoying...! ). And i can force Live 7 easily to crash, so please make Live 8 a rock solid application again...!!! That is more important than anything else.

Golden rule: If you can force Live into crashing: let us know asap how and send us the logs and stuff!
Making it as stable as possible is something we can only achieve together.

But before doing that, replace the 7.0.10 in your signature with the latest one... ;-)

Cheers,
Dom

If I want Live (7.0.14) to crash, I just use a big a patch in Omnisphere...

CPU level jumps to a 1000...

BZZZZZZZZZZ....

Crash...

You mean Live can't handle that?!

It's more to do with Omnishpere than Live. Predator can really hammer the CPU when you have a load of them going with Unison on, that's always been fine. Omnisphere's still a little buggy IMHO but like everything else, it will get better with age.

I get the feeling that Live 8 is goin to be a different story. 7 was touchy but is rock solid now, 8 will be fine from release, purely because there's a lot more users now, so therefore a lot more beta testers.

You can send us the crashlogs and we will check if it's omnisphere causing the crash or Live.
The cpu usage should not crash Live, regardless how high you kick it...

This is one of the reason I dont use Stylus RMX much in live now - seemed to end up with rediculous CPU use for what it was doing and often randomly. Ie fine for eg, then in a certain part of a song for no obvious reason the CPU usuage would go thorugh the roof. Only way to stop it was bounce all the RMX parts to audio and disable RMX - often in cases where RMX was being used as a very basic drum mahcine without its fx etc.

Oh this age and culture, in order to get anything half assed understood you need to use smileys. And I hate smileys.

Cheers Dom!

I honestly think it's nothing to do with your programme, but I'll have a check next time it falls over.

You guys are doing a proper job BTW. I'm nearly famous due to your ingenious little app.

Feel the love! x

Is Live 8 not stable now? How do you know?

I think Native Instruments needs to change.... I love reaktor and use it a ton but the only time I run into trouble with Live is when I'm trying to run Reaktor within it. (And when it does work properly, it bogs down my set with its insane CPU usage.)

This why I was so excited to hear about MaxforLive. I can't wait to dive into the new Ableton-ized interface... I remember when I was first starting out (before I got into Live) I switched from using Max to Reaktor because I felt Reaktor was easier to use. Now I plan on going back to Max (MaxforLive). I'm actually excited to go through all of the tutorials 8O

I'm even thinking about Copying some of the Reaktor synths into Max. A Carbon 2 emulator for Live anyone?

I don't know what's exactly the problem with the NI plugs and that GUI behavior. I just hope that two Berlin located companys can sort it out.
And now that i learned from Dom how to transmit logs and crash related files i will do so if somthing strange happens. But now back to music...:-)
