I want to upgrade from live 4 to live 8. I would like to get 7 first but need to know what an upgrade would cost to 8 once it is released.

Another possible is buying suit 7 as upgrade from 4. Do i then allso get the free upgrade to suite 8??

I'm on Live 7 Plain.

For me to upgrade to 8 (suite/download) would be $349. The boxed version would be $419.

Just 7 to 8, (DL) would be $189, the box would be $229.

thanks,

i am wondering though if there is a crace period where upgrading to 7 now gives me a discount to 8 later. Otherwise i will wait till 8 is out.

Yes i noticed this and it gives me loads of options for upgrading from live lite or buying new. NOT for upgrading from earlier live versions

Sorry boss, but that's all I got.

Now, if you're making music now, and aren't really hampered by what your tools are, maybe you should wait it out. A few months will pass by quickly and then you'll be jamming with 8.

I'm almost sure that you're either going to end up paying more if you go from whatever you have now to 7, then upgrade again to 8. Then again... I don't know shit.

THANK YOU

This is confusing me too...

Looks like the free Drum Machines is also not avail with an upgrade from 6 to 8, but it is if you go from live lite/LE?

It seems that if you buy Live Suite now, you get 8 suite, free (the download at least). But, it doesn't specify if that would work if you did Live 7, to Live 7 Suite, then the 8 Suite for free. That'd be sweet, but ehhh...

I'm ok now.

No rush.

Time only exists if you're counting.

Would be great to know, as I am on regular seven and was possibly gonna go suite. But will wait if they will still charge you.

this is all messed up if you are a existing live 7 boxed version owner....

if i would have waited till now to buy live FULL i would have got the free instruments...
butttt
I bought live almost a year ago....and now I am screwed out of the FREE instruments.... yea a 30 coupon is nice when upgrading to 8...
but live also dropped in price...

existing live 7 BOX users are getting screwed out of two instruments for FREE and basically were pissed about it!!!

I have emailed support... waiting on an explanation.
this blows....

if i have interpreted any of this wrong someone feel free to correct me...
thanks

yes the pricing is a bit wonkey.
and giving away instruments to noobs,
and not making an prorated upgrade for 7 buyers.
It feels like I bought 7 just a little while ago :(
the 30 $ thing is a bit disappointing.
I bought the boxed version of live (as advertised)
I too was offered a 30 $ coupon for my next purchase.

I've upgraded to Live 7 an hour ago using a coupon that came with the Korg Nanokontrol (50 USD off from Live 6 to Live 7). Now the pricing page on the Ableton site tells me this:

As soon as Live 8 and Suite 8 are released, you'll be able to choose from the following upgrade options:

Upgrades

Live 7 to Live 8 Suite Upgrade (Download) USD 259
Live 7 to Live 8 Suite Upgrade (Box) USD 329
Live 7 to Live 8 Upgrade (Download) USD 59
Live 7 to Live 8 Upgrade (Box) USD 99

The link to the page is:

http://www.ableton.com/nl199-live-8-upgrades

This means a Live 6 user who has upgraded to Live 7 will pay 59 USD for Live 8. I wonder if this is valid for only those Live 6 users who have upgraded after Live 8 was announced (which would be ridiculous), since all of you cite different prices for Live 7 to Live 8.

Upgrade to Ableton Suite (Download) 229

Upgrade to Ableton Suite (Boxed) 259

Live 7 to Live 8 Upgrade (Download) USD 189

Live 7 to Live 8 Upgrade (Box) USD 229

why are my prices higher? exchange rate? asshole tax?

I can think of two reasons:

- There is an error on the site
- There is now a grace period for people who upgraded to Live 7 very recently or after the Live 8 announcement.

same here, seems about right, since we upgraded 7 early

doesn't bother me a bit, with the coupon, the box suite i think will be the same price/cheaper than 4>5, 5>6 was! good for me, as i went download last time- doesn't appear session drums or eic got a facelift, so for all you 7 boxers, 30 bucks for a manual, some stickers, and the box... 10 bucks cheaper than buying at the webstore, tho.

don't like the prices/features (or lack there of), don't upgrade
