UAD2 is it completely stable with live 7?
Hey all
I went through hell with uad1 with live back with Live4. It has been a long time since then and it seems that these cards have been properly addressed by Live but I just want to COMPLETELY sure that they are indeed working.
So the questing is....
Are there ANY issues when working with the UAD2 cards and Live7?
Thanks to all that offer info

Thanks for getting back to me. Have you tried working with the Live Track real time monitoring mode?
As for your problem with the card not being see each time the computer boots. Here is a couple of things that you can try if you haven't already.
Try "re-seating" the card. Simply pull the card out of the slot and stick it back in making very sure that the fit is tight and solid. If you are using a PC then you may have a IRQ conflict. That is a little more complicated and the easiest way to try and fix that is to simply move the card to a different slot in the computer.

I has been mentioned in the UAD2 reviews that it puts surprisingly much stress on the PC CPU ?? Can anybody give any report about the subject?
How much stress does the UAD2 generate to the computers cpu when you use the maximum plugin count?
The whole point of the UAD cards is that THEY DO THE PROCESSING SO YOUR COMPUTER DOESN'T HAVE TO.
My UAD2 quad works wonders in my machine and very stable for me in Live 7.

There is some CPU load for shuffling the audio to and from the card, it only gets bad if you have a a Quad (4 DSPs) AND run a lot of plug-ins.
You can run 128 Neve 88rs channelstrips on a UAD-2 Quad but then you will see a significant CPU hit too. To put it in perspective, 128 plug-ins is probably way more than you'd ever need.
I have 2x UAD-1 and 1 UAD2 Solo and I don't really notice them taxing the CPU at all. (Q6600)

I have heard that UAD2 doesn't work properly on Octacore Mac Pro towers yet, but otherwise I haven't heard of any other significant problems with it, although I only have access to UAD-1 at work, where we have it installed in a dual core PC and a quad core Mac Pro.
