Firstly, I moved this thread into the Live 8 Beta bug section.
A few questions:
1) At which point does it crash (Can you see the Splash screen or does it crash before)?
2) Which exact version of OS X are you using?

Hi Alex
I am on OS X.5.6.
Live starts up normally, its scans the plugin folder, and then live is trying to create/open the first template and it crashes?
I will try to repair my permissions? maybe that will help? Will keep you up to date..

Locate the Preferences folder, where Template.als is stored.
It should be: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 8.0b2/Template.als
Rename (NOT!!! delete) this file and check if you can start Live then.
if that#s the case, please send the Template file to
[email protected], together with a link of this thread.

/Alex

Then Locate the system crash logs of Live.
Go to /Users/USERNAME/Logs/CrashReporter
Please zip this CrashReporter folder and send it to
[email protected] with your forum username and a link or the name of this thread.

Hi Alex
Problem Solved!
I did delete "Preferences.cfg" and Live 8.0b2 told me that 2 plugins could not be loaded, and did then start up normally. But when i scan the VST folder it crashes again?

Please do NOT!! delete the preferences.cfg file.
Rename it and send it to us, but don't delete it.
Otherwise we will not be able to track down the corresponding problem.

I had the same problems... I moved the preferences.cfg... and then it started fine... how should I proceed?
Maybe I should point out that I had no template.als file in my folder, and it crashed when wanting to create it....
now it's registered... I'm so exited!

Hi Alex
After setting my configurating in the preferences and then quits live, it crashes on start up again, and i have to delete the "Preferences.cfg" before i can start live up again without a crash?

OK. I can confirmed that one. It depends on the
MIDI Controller surface script you have select in the preferences.
Having selected "MasterControl" will crash on the next start.
Might happen for other controller scripts too.
Which controller did you set up?

Confirmed.
Starting up with "MackieControl" selected crashes too.
