Ableton Forum

Locate the Preferences folder, where Template.als is stored.
It should be: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 8.0b2/Template.als

Rename (NOT!!! delete) this file and check if you can start Live then.
If that's the case, please send the Template file to [email protected], together with a link of this thread.

It happens at least when you have selected MackieControl or MasterController as controller surface in Live's MIDI preferences. Might happen with other ones too. So in that beta, you should not use them.

also experiencing Live hanging at the "creating live set" stage of start up

i deleted the preferences.cfg file in the same folder as the renamed template.als file and live started right up.
