OT: Music Technology Market Data

Im proposing a music technology idea at work but I need to get some market data on things like sales and growth and all that jazz to see if its viable. Does anyone have any good pointers for this kind of info ?

any help much appreciated ! :D

You could pick certain limited or public companies and get their financial reports from companies houe i guess. this might give you an indication of growth. i think, or i could just be talkign arse.

Im not sure that many of the 'players' are registered in the UK but that s a pretty good idea ! Cd be other countries have similar freedom of informtaion..

I'd be very surprised if other countries didn't have very similar filing requirements to the ones we have in the UK. Any sizeable company has to file financial reports of some sort with Companies House in the UK, so I'd start by finding the equivalent organisations in the countries the main players are registered in.

I'd also check to see if any are listed on stock exchanges as their info will be a lot easier to access and find.

probably easier to access a report that's already been written... namm isn't just a trade show :)

seems like you can view their reports to 2007 online, but i reckon you could make a special case for taking a peep at the 2008 report for research purposes, that one includes 13 countries.

one interesting trend will be high street retailers going out of business and online retailers, sometimes in other countries, picking up the sales.
