Audio crackling issue in 7.0.14

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago to 7.0.14 from the previous version and now I'm having horrible crackling/distortion of all audio coming from Live. It was not doing this until I upgraded. After playing in a Live set for a little while, it just starts crackling whenever audio from a clip is playing. The only way to make it stop is to reboot.

I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 I/O interface. Macbook running 10.4.

There are no plug-ins of ANY kind running on the set. Just clips.

I would love to just find an earlier version of Live 7... Perhaps 7.0.10... Does anyone know where I can download an earlier version??? I have a show this weekend and I can't take the chance of my audio freaking out on stage because of Live. It's obviously a bug. Can anyone help?? Thanks!

Hi, can't help with the audio problem, but here's a thread to help you access previous versions of Live 7: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?p=773490

Hi!

I'm getting the exactly same problem! It often starts happening when there has been a big CPU spike. After this the crackling starts.

For me it helps to restart Live - this doesn't work for you? Try to change sample rate in the Live's audio preferences - does this (temporarily) cure it?

I'm really happy (sorry) if we have the same issue since I've tried almost everything and I have no idea what causes it. Now it would mean I'm not alone with it.

Also, it doesn't seem to sound on the internal speaker - what about on your Macbook? If you disconnect Sapphire, does it still crackle?

The links there don't work anymore - they all lead to the latest patch.

It sucks that they don't just keep the previous versions available. I have problems with 7.0.14 but far less with version x.x10.

Had to scour the internet for version .10 / found it at different site eventually, but I'd rather get it from 'the source'.

Where did you find version .10???? I need it SO badly because apparently Ableton doesn't care enough about this MAJOR glitch in .14 to post an update... That way they make us all wait and have to upgrade to Live 8.

So where did you find it?? I need it for Mac...

ive just experienced a similar problem. After recording serveral tracks the mic input started to crackle and recorded like that. Restarted live & it sorted it out. Very odd, not noticed anything like this before. (PC btw)

Might give Reaper a go for plain recording

Could one of the guys from Ableton that read these forums kindly respond to this thread? I've seen at least 3 other people that have posted with this exact same problem and no one from Ableton seems to want to give us any answer or help.... Can you please respond?

Two things...

1. I think I have a copy of .10

2. I had popping going on and after pulling my hair out found that my video card was the culprit. If you're using a PC right click on desktop go to properties>settings> advanced. Click on the troubleshoot tab and turn acceleration off. This will make your meters choppy and is not the fix, but if your audio clicks clear up you'll know if your card is the issue.

If they do clear up then you can turn the acceleration back up. The fix for me was to clear the check box that says Enable Write Combining. Its been smooth ever since.

Hope this helps.

Greetings Live lovers....I'm having glitches also since upgrading to the latest v of Live, without being too obvious here, Live updates do not overwrite your existing version, of course if you uninstall the previous version then your kind of stuck...which is what seems to be the case here. I do not uninstall the previous v just in case, I have a set that I've been working on for far too long and its having a hard time opening it, there is a progress bar that indicates Buffering audio but sits at 0% for at least several minutes, this didn't do this with v. 7.0.10 Last night I had to click inside my arrangement a few times to get Live to do something, I thought it would crash again as it has done so several times, never had any issues with Live ever until this upgrade......Live team, PLEASE revisit this update because it needs to be corrected.
