Let's say I sample a piano note from a song. Is there any way to set it so when I use my MIDI keybooard, the sound doesn't sound slowed down when I use lower keys on my keyboard. Or sped up when I use higher keys?

Also, I'm sure I can set it so the sound doesn't cut off immediately when I let go of the key, right?

micro loop the beginning, assign loop start to aux envelope and adjust accordingly to timestretch the sample

sorry, i still don't quite understand. is this all under the "sample" tab of the Sampler?

is there a tutorial available?

Um I think you could try the pitch device thing. Set low and high both the same. Something like that, I'm not at a computer now. Why are you using Samp instead of Simp? Just wonderin.

Use multi samples. Don't distort one sample. Or buy something like Akoustk Piano by NI.

What you're asking for is a timestretch mode that allows the sample pitch to change without changing duration. Sampler does not do this unfortunately (Even though clips can do it and also impulse can change the length of samples independent of pitch), sampler only does traditional pitch change where it's tied to duration like on a tape or turntable, which I think is crazy. I've asked for it over and over in feature requests. Kontakt does it nicely.

As for allowing a release after you let go, you need to set it to looped mode, then set loop points that fade nicely and increase the release time. If none of this makes sense, then you gotta read the manual.

I know. I've absolutely refused to write any more music until Ableton corrects this. I cannot do it. It is not possible. If Ableton finally implements this feature, the world will be free.

BTW, Kontakt uses the normal Elastique algorithm that Live uses for clips.

I've written in other threads, so I guess I'll add a plus 1 here too. I can not believe Live still does not have time stretch on their sampler/simpler.

This is the answer you're looking for. Multi sample your source paino and spread thos across a range in sampler.

have the same feel about the automation problem with midi envelopes in the session/clip mode. its forced to be relative offset and no way to handle it directly absolute. horror especially with external hardware devices.

Could a solution be to pitch the clip in clip view, and then use several clips pitched differently in multisampling mode, to avoid the speed changes?
