self installing drive on older MBP void every damn thing?

I installed a new drive in my older MBP myself which is a big no no to Apple but to me giving my computer to techs is like asking a guy to keep his penis in your girlfriend's vagina while you're gone for the weekend.

My computer is acting all kinds of stupid but was starting to before I even put the drive in so I don't think that is the issue. To my complete surprise I just found out my Apple Care doesn't expire until Aug. 09. I'm thinking it's having component failures, some of which Apple is probably aware of, but since I installed a new drive is Apple going to give me the finger on whatever may need to be replaced? I don't think this is something I can hide from them, and damnit, I don't want to try to lie about it.

Just put the old drive in when you take it to the apple store?

I wonder if it is that simple. Also that would ease my fears of them f'ing it up since I no longer use that drive as my main drive. But something makes me think some magical seal was broken that they'll know I cracked it open.

Yes, installing a drive voids the warranty. Put the original drive back in and don't tell anyone. So long as the issue still occurs with the original drive and it's not the new hard drive giving the problem, it'll be diagnosed and repaired. Secretly put your drive back in when you get it back.

As long as the original HD is intact, no cables damaged, including the label, etc and you get all the screws back in the right place, you should be okay. Though if you look at as many machines as I do, you do start to get a feel of wether someone has been in there before.

Don't understand the phobia about letting qualified techs work on your machine, I mean it is what we do for a living.
