tempo troubles between Live 7 and Eventide Eclipse

I've connected Live (Macbook Pro) through a MOTU Ultralite to an Eventide Eclipse (MIDI connection from MOTU to Eclipse). It works great except for tempo info. The Eclipse is set to read the clock from midi in, but it lags by 1 to 5 bpm after every tempo change on in Live. I always must set the Eclipse's tempo by hand.
It seems to me this shouldn't be the case. Why would it do that and how can I fix it?
