Hi everyone!
After a hectic and exhausting year, I've finally been able to plan a sweet vacation, and just booked my flight to London. Now I would like to ask a few locals:

1. What clubs would you recommend? I dig a lot of underground house stuff at the moment, and apart from Fabric, where should I go to catch a few good DJs and some nice music? Sound-wise, think of Innervisions and the crew around Dixon, Moodyman & Theo Parrish, Jus Ed and the likes. Also, I dig D'n'B artists like Calibre, Intalex, Commix and Breakage. Any advice concerning a sweaty, dark and soulful House or DnB party/club?

2. Shopping records! Where to go? Is the Soul Jazz record shop still going? Where can I score some London exclusives?

Any help is greatly appreciated! You can either reply in this forum or visit my SoundCloud profile (just 'patrickbanken' there) for your hints.

Cheers, pbanken

Record shops it depends on what you are looking for but here are a few of the best:

Soul Jazz is still going strong and long may it last, but it changed it's name to "Sounds of the Universe" when it moved to a better location some years ago.

Sounds of the Universe (SoulJazz) - www.soundsoftheuniverse.com

also in the same area we have:

Vinyl Junkies - www.vinyl-junkies.com (ignore the reggae/dub on the front page - they sell all styles of music)

and next door to them we have Music & Video Exchange - http://www2.mveshops.co.uk/index.php

also check Phonica Records - www.phonicarecords.co.uk

and near them is BM Soho (Blackmarket) - www.bm-soho.com

plus also nearby is Revival Records (the old Reckless shop) more secondhand stuff - www.revivalrecords.uk.com

also just up the road is Sister Ray (34-35 Berwick Street) www.sisterray.co.uk

and if you fancy something a bit different book a visit to ifMusic - www.ifmusic.co.uk - you need to ring and make an appointment to visit!

further out try:

The two Rough Trade shops (West is small or East is bigger) - www.roughtrade.com - www.roughtrade.com/site/about.lasso - www.roughtrade.com/site/content.lasso?page=east.html

Soul Brother for Soul, Funk, Disco, Jazz - new and old, great range of CDs too - www.soulbrother.com - can be a bit pricey at times.

Crazy Beat for Soul, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop, Reggae, House, etc. - old and new plus loads more - www.crazybeat.co.uk - although it's a bit of a trip out of London.

Can't help much with clubs - but if you fancy a smaller club try nights at Plastic People: www.plasticpeople.co.uk
Check to see who's playing nearer the time, they have Theo Parrish playing this Saturday 7th February for instance.
