Hello to all,

yesterday I bought a Behringer BCF 2000 and now I found following problem.
I am using Live 3.0.3 on a PC and the MIDI controller ist connected via USB.
In the preferences of Live I send the MIDI output to the Behringer Controller so that the position of a fader should be transmitted to the remote device. And it does work. After watching how the remote fader is moving when I move a Live-fader with the mouse, I tried to move the remote fader. This one can be moved with a bit more force, what is acceptable.
But when I move a remote fader quickly and release it, the remote fader jumps back to the original position. To make the fader stay on a position I have to hold it there for about a second (what is not acceptable).

Is that behaviour normal?
Am I doing anything wrong?

I would be glad, if anybody could help me.

gestern habe ich mir das Teil von Behringer gekauft und stelle folgendes Problem fest.
Ich benutze Live 3.0.3 auf einem PC und der MIDI Controller ist per USB angeschlossen.
Wenn ich in den Voreinstellungen von Live als Midi Ausgang das Behringer Gerät auswähle, gehe ich davon aus, daß die Position eines Faders an das Midi Gerät übertragen wird. Das tut es auch. Nachdem ich also zugesehen habe, wie sich ein Fader bewegt, wenn ich mit der Maus etwas verändere,
habe ich einen Fader bewegt. Dieser läßt sich mit etwas mehr Kraftaufwand auch bewegen. Wenn ich jedoch einen Fader schnell bewege und loslasse, springt der Fader wieder zurück in die ursprüngliche Position. Damit der Fader auf einer Position bleiben soll, muß ich ihn ca. 1 Sekunde dort festhalten.

Ist das normal?
Mache ich etwas falsch?

Wenn mir jemand helfen kann, wäre ich sehr dankbar.

Has this issue been fixed yet? I was thinking about buying one of these controllers and this will affect my decision.

I think Behringer is working in this issue; I have informed them.

As far as I see the problem, this is more a ableton issue.
Cubase, Reason, ... work fine with this controller.

I did run into a more serious problem that took me a while to solve. Once the BCF2000 was set up to receive control message, the faders would “grab” when I would make larger fader moves. This rendered the BCF2000 useless for controlling faders since I was sure that I was going to rip out the motors in a matter of days. I contacted technical support (which is required as part of the review process anyway) who got back to me quickly. They told me this problem was caused by a loop of the incoming data being sent back out by my sequencer. The suggestion they had was to turn off the sending of data to the BCF2000 which wasn't going to work for me as I need the faders to follow the sequencer.(or at least for this test I did) I did hear back from Tech Support a second time but it took 2 days. They had me try some different debugging techniques but I ended solving the problem myself (by not making the BCF2000 the default MIDI device). Once this was done the BCF2000 and the Houston co-existed quite well. Although it did take a couple days to get a more complete answer, I did get the feeling from tech support that they were willing to do whatever it took to get the problem solved. And at the end of the day the problem was on my end in the software, not with the BCF2000. "

maybe that might help in sorting your problem?

can't get it to work if i want "flying faders". is there a fix in sight?

Am i doing sth wrong or is there no way to send MIDI back to the BCF and still have control over the faders?

Theres a way to set up the BCF that streamlines its use with Live its "Adjustable dead time to avoid loop-back problems (no more fader hooking)"
Its part of an OS upgrade and it works a treat.

The BCF programer software is also handy

Thanks! I've already installed 1.07 but didn't look at the 1.06 version history text. Stupid BC-Edit java applet won't run here though even though all other java progs run fine...
