any ideas on how to find popular vintage drum breaks like amen, funky drummer, think ect all on one cd with high quality sound? typically these songs on the internet when downloaded lack sound quality due to only mp3s being avaliable....does any one know of a sample cd that contains high quality versions of these breaks plus others? especially the amen break, i need a high quality copy of this, most of my samples taken from the original song lack in sound quality....any help appreciated

I'd bet SonicReality, has an array of loops suitable for breaks. Why not check there?

go to a record shop and get some of the Battle Tools or Scratch Weapon records or whatever they call them these days... then record them.

It's pretty much every single classic break.

here is what i found about this cd....
This collection is best used as a reference.
I have the CD, and have analyzed the audio.........many, if not most of these breaks have been sourced from mp3, or other lossy format. In some cases, very poor quality files.
Just wanted to make sure you know what you're getting.

I'm calling bullshit on that review.
I've done zero critical listening, I just use them and they kill me every time, this after going through YEARS of passing over other sample collections.

I too have the CD, and many of the records on this cd (certainly not all, but my record collection is pretty sick - I live right by the Sound Library and A1, its an expensive walk home). I use the cd more often than my actual records of these just out of laziness. It's fine.
As you mentioned, many of these records are expensive and impossible to find. Most were recorded in the 60's and 70's in crappy studios for labels that didn't save the masters. There is no remastered "_____" by "_____". The reality is, there will never be a great quality version of the Honeydrippers or Melvin Bliss. If you ever hear something that sounds like it, it was probably replayed and usually not for sound quality but to skirt paying to clear the sample.
It's $30. There isn't a more definitive collection (the other one would be the Ultimate Breaks and Beats collection USB stick but those records had the WORST sound quality ever). I say bite the bullet and drop $30. Do what you can to clean it up but don't stress. Enjoy the flavor it brings to your tracks.

You don't need to buy that CD..
Do a search of this forum and you'll find a thread with a link to just about every classic break known to man. It has them all REX'd up as well as in their original non mp3'd 16 bit 44.1K straight off of the remastered, or at least mastered for CD, CD quality.

Dude!!
If you need to buy a bootleg CD to get the Amen break, then the internet police should come to your house and take away your google license...
