All the talk, anyone bite?

Just curious.

yeah I'm curious to hear about this as well. I've got Battery3......but my drum addiction reigns....what I *don't* have is a spare 15 GIGs for another library....

I don't think it's actually available until the 9th (Monday). The only person who I know that has bought it is a guy over at Future Producers dot com. He said he ordered it directly from Motu. He's had it for two weeks.

The GUI is really cool on this, but isn't it exactly the same thing as GURU with a larger library? Plus it's a dongle plug in, like all of MOTUs stuff.

It's very similar to Guru, but it can do things that Gure can't.


I really like what I have seen so far from BPM, but I just don't see a need for it. I can do everything that BPM does in Live with Drum Racks. I would like the 15 gig library, but that's really it.


I just can't justify buying it to myself.

I have it. It's not that great at all. It CANNOT slice audio files. It only allows you to play pre-sliced (e.g., rex, apple loops) files, that's it. It's crazy that in 09 a product comes out claiming to be a sampling drum machine and it cannot slice a sample! I'm sticking with my MV8800 and Live 7. I'm done with products like this. Guru is better IMO.

You may be right. Guru has definitely been around longer, so that makes it the more mature product. The truth is, I hate Guru's GUI. I think it's the ugliest thing I have ever seen, and I just can't get passed it. It has some great features, but if I had to look at it at all while making beats, I would lose any kind of inspiration or workflow I had.

Kb4 - of the two, BPM has the better library, but neither have anything on Battery and NI. That's why the Maschine might be a good product. The Guru library is average at best, although Goldbaby makes some decent kits for it. Either way, for me it's a workflow thing. I have much more fun making music on my MV and Live. I've tried to go full software before, but I keep going back to the hardware samplers. I'm waiting for Linn Drum II, I'd done with BPM and Guru type software. Others may like them though, so whatever works. Later.

Ok. I understand where you are coming from.

Just got BPM a couple of days ago thourgh sweetwater. I'm feelin' it so far, pretty fast & intuitive. Drag & Drop rex files, .wav etc. make things quick. Sound quality is very good, Mappings are good also . Got work with Live know, should be real nice with Live 8. Back to the lab to keep testing...

You know if they made it slightly more 2D it would look just like Live? I Like GURU OK, but lately improvements in Live have made Battery and Live a better choice for me. I echo the Battery library thing, much better sounding collection.
