[SOLVED] USB Keyboard(s) not working in Live 7

Hello All,
I was hoping someone with technical expertise might be able to help me on this problem.
In the past I was using Alesis Photon X25 to control VST instruments in Live. About a month ago for some reason Photon stopped responding, keys didn't work, rotary pots and buttons...all dead.
So I have decided the time had come for a new controller. I've ordered Akai MPK49 and when it arrived I asked myself why in the world was I wasting money on Photon.
Anyway, after plugging the MPK to the USB port Wizzard kicked in and the new USB Audio Device (Akai MPK 49) was installed. So far so good.
In Live MIDI Preferences under "Control Surface" I selected MPK49, under "Input" I selected E-DSP MIDI Port (its the only selection available there, probably coming from E-MU 1616m interface).
Under MIDI Ports Track is "On" for "Input: MPK49 Input (E-DSP MIDI Port).
Long story short, that didn't work either. I"m still unable to see any activity comming from the USB controller.
I can "play" instrments using computer keyboard, no problems there.
I have even reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Win XP and all the software. Still no results.
Now I'm thinking maybe there was nothing wrong with the Photon in the first place. Could it be that the ports on my laptop are shot? Or maybe something is wrong with E-MU interface?
I'm really frustrated at the moment and would appreciate any input from someone who is in the know.
Thanks in advance,
Goran
