I've tried searching the forum but not seen anything so........


After deciding to expand from more then a single controller i picked up a BCF2000. As the firewire on the powerbook died a while ago i only have 2 usbs to work with. So i've got my audio interface (Edirol UA-25) in one usb and a Evolution x-session in the other. I want to connect my BCF2000 to the Edirol via the midi leads. After doing so and selecting (what i think are) the correct settings on the midi set up section in the preferences menu i can't get my BCF2000 to respond to anything (using it via the midi learn function). When i plug it in directly to the usb instead of the X-session it works fine.

Is there something obvious i'm doing wrong?

Hi bewilderd,

did you enable "Remote" for the input port you used to connect the BCF?
Then you should be able to use the device for Midi mapping.

One tip: you can also use the BCF as a control surface which should be able to control Live instantly without manual mapping: even though the BCF is not yet natively supported as a control surface in Live 5, you can set it to "Mackie Mode". Please refer to the BCF´s documentation on how to do that. Then you need to select Mackie Control in the control surface list in Live´s Midi/Sync preferences and select the input/output port you used to connect the BCF.

Yeah i enabled that port.
I've found its now working with the use of a usb hub shared with the X-session. Its a bit temperamental though. Upon starting up Live and switching everything on only one of the controllers works and i need to unplug the one not responding and plug it back in for it to leap into life.

I have never been sucessful at using the bcf via midi cables

not sure why (and only tried a couple of times before going back to usb)

powered hub?
