When I am moving clips from the Construction kits (in the library) into the live set the clip graphics are displaced by one row, which in one sense seems quite ok as they are in fact a folded group of clips BUT if I already have one folded construction kit clip (a folded group of clips) present in the live set and try to place a new Construction Kit clip in the live set the clip graphics will appear displaced - seemingly by so many clips are present in the already in use in the older clip group.

Am I making any sense?

Indeed, dragging one of the Construction Kits sets in the Session view shows one "empty track", and that is normal, it indicates the group track that the set starts with.

The other thing, the offset when there is already a group in the track, is fixed for while now. I move the thread away, please open a new one if needed.
