Will I be qualified to buy Live 8 Suite academic if I am a part time college student? If I am can I just send over a copy of my school ID, that is dated? Or...? Thanks

I'm a part time student and was able to upgrade from version 5 standard to version 7 academic.
Also, my school ID is outdated (spring 2006), but I included a copy of my current schedule in the application and they were cool with it.

I was able to update Live 6 academic to Live 7 Suite download academic.
I guess we'll wait and see, but hopefully this will still be the case.
From what you wrote, you should qualify for academic status, but you will need to download the academic purchase form and upload your ID photos and documents, or fax them for Ableton to verify you as qualifying.

i doubt that they would eliminate academic for 8.
If there ISNT an academic version, however, they will have lost ONE potential customer here.

i spoke to a rep a few weeks ago, and he said they would still have academic versions
BUT!
no more academic upgrades...
for example if you buy 8 academic, when 9 comes out if you want to upgrade you'll have to buy 9 at the full academic price.
WHICH sucks

...well, of course the way to upgrade from 8 academic to 9 would NOT be buying a new version of 9 academic, but just buying a normal upgrade without the price reduction. thats how it works : they just have cancelled discounted UPGRADES, not the possibility to buy an academic version ....

this still sucks though and especially in these tough economic times.
The loss of income on the upgrade is really not that much to Ableton, but is a considerable amount to a student.
Also - if this is the case, does that mean that your license will now become a FULL license if you upgrade from educational, if they do away with educational discounts. If that is the case then that is somewhat different.
