Hi,

Question: Is this sound made with "physical modelling" synthesis?

I thought it was some waveshaping stuff, but I can make this sound better with Collision I think.

I think they were very into Tassman at this time, so therefore also I thought I got this sound spot on with Collision.

Sounds like a good old fashioned DMX run through some kind of spectral processing. Have a look at the soundhack spectral shapers plugins ( especially the compressor ).The DMX sample should be pretty easy to come by.
