When Live is stopped, previewing audio loops in the browser is not synced to the tempo (isn't it supposed to now, I thought the "raw" button was to hear the original tempo)

So I created the options.txt with the "PreviewAlwaysSyncedToSong" tag but it still doesn't work

I am glad you brought this up, because imho it's not working the way it's supposed to either (and I think the way it even worked during alpha testing). I was just thinking about this again last night when I was previewing loops in the browser by themselves and they all played at their original tempo instead of my session tempo, which makes the whole RAW button completely useless, when the transport bar is in stop mode.

Anyway, my thread from 8 days ago (http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=) did get no attention, so I'll keep your thread bumped.

Yes please, this one bit me in the ass last night too. Was trying to sort through some sample for a song, and unless the song was playing, preview tempo was all over the place. Agreed that the RAW button handles this nicely now, no need to do it when stopped.

the situation is maybe not ideal, but, there is a huge difference between playing a warped clip at its original tempo (it still plays it warped, however you warped it), and playing the Raw sample (it plays the sample as it is). There were big complains some versions ago that warped samples were not preview-able at their own tempo, and that is what we have for now. The rest should go to the wishlist.

just checked.... 8b19 PreviewAlwaysSyncedToSong now seems to work?

I get raw: plays sample as it is
sequencer stopped: sample plays warped, at original tempo
sequencer started sample plays warped at project tempo

PreviewAlwaysSyncedToSong declared in options.txt: Live accepts the tag but doesn't change behaviour.
It's a worthwhile option to have, if it doesn't exist, shouldn't Live at least reject the tag?

Just played with it if I stop Live and click on a clip, the clip plays its own tempo. I also noticed that if I preview a clip, with sequencer stopped, and I mess with the BPM the clip will start playing the tempo...
Also double checked I had options.txt in the right place.

Win or OS X?

Using OS X's text editor I managed to create an options.txt that looked like a text file but obviously wasn't, not enough for Live anyway... I have absolutely no idea how I did it, I believe I did as I usually do, but must have missed something (a character encoding issue?).

I noticed because what I was doing was turning off the beta's event recording and successfully doing so should've turned off that 'recording events' (or whatever) message in the title bar. But no luck...

I then noticed that Finder didn't tag the file's "Kind" as ''Plain text", it just showed a hyphen instead. Turned out whatever caused this also prevented Live from setting the option. Re-saving the file and verifying that it was now tagged as Plain Text, Live happily obeyed its instructions.

Just a thought.

So I re-read the instructions on Options.txt and it turns out I forgot the hyphen
