Automation in session-view?

Hello,
I am new to Ableton Live, currently on a 14-day trial to find out if it will do what I need it to do. This is the first of probably many questions I'm going to be asking in here, please have patience with this noob.
Basically, I want to use Live in a live setting, using the session view. Three different tracks will be used. One track for processing the sound of a live guitar, one track with soft-synths for the keyboardist, and one track with different sounds and samples triggered to different parts of the songs. When playing, I want as little as possible attention to the computer, so I'll pretty much just want to have a few knobs on the floor for next scene, verse, chorus and so on. Drums, vocals and bass will not go through Live for now.
I have gone through some of the tutorials, and also read through parts of the reference manual, but I've yet to find a simple solution to my problem. I'll try to explain what I want.
Lets take a simple song. During the verse, the guitarist will play a clean guitar with some delay, and the keyboardist will have a rhodes sound. In the chorus, guitar has a mild overdrive, and keyboard has a hammond type of sound. The third sample-track is easy, so I'll leave that out for now.
Is it possible for me when I change from the verse-scene to the chorus-scene, to change what plugins are turned on and off for each of the tracks, and the settings for these plugins? In the arrangement view it seems it can be done quite easily, but I'm having troubles doing the same in session-view.
